| About TAG | |||||||||||||
| The Arable Group, a Registered Charity, is a unique research
organisation, funded predominantly by farmer subscriptions. TAG provides
independent agronomic advice to progressive arable farmers, using information
derived from the largest network of agronomic trials in the
country. The Arable Group is run by farmers, for farmers. The Board of TAG consists of farmers. In each Region, local Technical Committees guide the trials work of each Centre and have assisted the Board in making The Arable Group the most successful agronomic trials and advisory organisation in the UK, with nothing to sell but high quality, independent information. |

| The Members of TAG at each Centre elect farmers to represent their interests on the TAG Technical Committees. Currently there are seventeen of these Committees (some Centres run joint Committees) and they have been one of the strengths of TAG. Our trial programmes are developed in conjunction with these local Technical Committees, ensuring that the agronomic interests of the Members in a specific location are reflected in the trial work that is conducted. No other organisation can claim to have such 'grass roots' contact with its Members. | ![]() A TAG combine at work |

| 23 Centres across the Country |
The Arable Group has a comprehensive
trials base and now operates twenty three Centres. They are located in the main
arable areas, covering the most common soil types and climatic regions in the
country.Independent agronomic information plays a vital role in creating successful farm businesses. Decisions on product usage, timings and application rates are crucial as they involve considerable economic outlays and can create wide ranges of agronomic and therefore financial responses. It is essential that the agronomic decisions are supported by independent data that is reliable and accurate, and expressed in terms of margin as well as yield. The Arable Group supplies that information to its farmer members. |
